Lady in Pink

On a beautiful, sunny afternoon in the spring, it is natural for me to want to wear clothes that are truly reminiscent of this beautiful season.  Yes, I am guilty of wearing clothes that are specific for each season, but every now and then I will wear something from a different season like pastels in the winter, or fur in the fall, sparkles in the summer, or brown in the spring. You know, just to break away from the routine. The OCD, organization freak, perfectionist part of me sometimes gets to be a little too much and that’s when the whimsical, free-spirit, happy-go-lucky part of me comes into play. Sounds like I’m talking about two different people, or like I have multiple personalities (haahaa). I like to say I have a little bit of everything mixed together. I have sugar and spice and everything nice…ok that was corny, yet another one of my personality traits. Haa! I always strive to find a balance with anything I do. This allows me see things from a different perspective.

I styled an outfit that has more of a fall or wintery feel to it and added a pop of bright pink to add a touch of spring into the mix. In a place like New Jersey, where the weather is so unpredictable, it is necessary to have a mixture of clothes to fluctuate depending upon the weather. Who said you can’t still look fab on a dreary day? Oh and don’t be fooled by the bright shining sun, it was beautiful alright, but it was windy and cold. So, if you’re anything like me and you’re ready to start wearing spring clothes, but don’t feel so inspired because of the current weather conditions, don’t worry. Add a few layers to help keep you warm and add a pop of a bright color to cheer you up on those days when the weather is not so nice. This look that is fun, sweet, and very ladylike. This outfit is perfect to wear to a brunch with your girlfriends, an afternoon date, or wherever you r heart desires.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a beautiful day my lovely readers. Stay tuned for more and I’ll see you on the next style post!

Flirty Fuchsia

Spring is finally here! Well...kinda. It may officially be Spring, but the weather here in Jersey is saying otherwise. It's still feels like winter. Can you believe it snowed on the first day of Spring? I think mother nature didn't get the memo. Between the cold temperatures, the snow, rain, and wind, I just can't deal. I'm ready for sunny days and warm weather.

Despite the drastic weather changes, I am still trying to get in the spring spirit by adding fun colors and playful prints to my wardrobe while still staying warm and cozy. My inspiration for this outfit was this lovely taupe and fuchsia floral print coat. I’ve had this coat for about two years and every time I wear it I get so many compliments. It’s such a pretty statement coat. I paired it with a leopard print chiffon blouse to do a little print mix and a fuchsia pencil skirt. These two prints are so different that at first I thought it would be too much to put them together, but the combination of the leopard print and floral print just seemed to blend together so beautifully. I didn’t stop there. I decided to take it up notch and add two bold colors, royal blue and fuchsia, and black stockings with a subtle polka dot to keep this fun theme going. The fuchsia bowler hat and lipstick complete this super fun, flirty, and sophisticated look. This outfit is perfect to wear to a Broadway show or play, or fun night out with your girlfriends.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I hope this look inspires you to play around with different colors and prints. Stay tuned for more spring inspired outfit ideas. See you on the next style post!

Not Simply Black & White

Happy Friday! I am so glad it's Friday. Did I mention that Friday is my favorite day of the week? Ever since I was a young girl, I have been in love with Fridays. I see Fridays not simply as the end of the week (work week, or school week), but I see it as the beginning of a fresh start. Fridays are my days to relax (after work) look back at my week and think about what things I accomplished, and what things I plan on getting accomplished for the upcoming week.

Today I am sharing with you an outfit that is not your average black and white. This is my take on a black and white look with an edge.  I am one who loves to combine patterns, textures, and colors. Because this is a mostly black and white outfit, I wanted to make sure it included a balanced mix of patterns and texture to make this look a little more interesting, and not simply black and white. In this look, I mixed a sweater dress with a silver beaded detail, a hounds tooth print jacket, and faux suede thigh high boots with lace & fringe detail. I added the oversized jacket to give this very sexy look a classier feel.  I think it is okay for a woman to dress sexy as long as it is done in good taste. At first I was little apprehensive about wearing a short, tight dress with thigh high boots, but once I paired it up with the oversized jacket this look went from sassy to classy, while still maintaining a subtle sexiness.  A classic high bun makes this look extra clean and sleek. Of course I had to add in a pop of color, so I painted my nails red and put on a stoplight red lipstick and I was all set for a fun night out on the town. This look is perfect to wear out to dinner with girlfriends or a fashion-inspired event.

So what did you think of this look? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.

February Favorites

Hey there! Remember that blog post that I posted back in January about what I was currently loving? (here) Well, this one is very similar to that one. In this post I am sharing with you a few items I picked up in February. These are items that I fell in love with, have been using for the past few weeks, and highly recommend. So if you are interested in any of these goodies, sit back, relax, sip on some hot cocoa, and read on. I'm going to try to keep this post short and sweet kind of like the month of February (heehee), so let's get right to it.

First I want to focus on two items that I really couldn't get enough of in February; my 'Donut Ever Let Me Go' mug and that adorable Valentine's day card that I used in a DIY post last month of the girl holding the balloons (here). Both of those items are from Target. Every time I walk into that store I always find something that I can't seem to walk away from. What can I say...#targetdoesitagain.

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their DREAMS."  - Eleanor Roosevelt

Whenever I go to TJ Maxx, Marshall's, or Homegoods, I always stop by their stationary section. It has become my go-to spot in the last few months. They just have the coolest stationary supplies. I found this cute little notebook with a quote an awesome quote and great daily reminder on the cover. This quote immediately spoke to me..."the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams," Eleanor Roosevelt. Everyone loves a good quote! Right? I also like that the pages are in different colors. This idea of color coded pages is great for keeping your ideas organized and it allows this notebook to be used for writing about more than one topic. I also picked up the log color pencils from TJ Maxx. I didn't lie when I told you in my last post that I was obsessed with them.

Another piece that spoke to me was the frame filled with positive quotes. Not only are those pretty colors perfect for my girly desk space, but these quotes are also great daily reminders for me.They add such a colorful and positive vibe to my work space. The strawberry frosted donut scented candle and the frame filled with quotes were also found at TJ Maxx find. Talk about #fabfound!

Check out this adorable little calendar in pink and gold. I picked this one up from Marshall's in the middle of January. This one was too cute to pass up. It gives my desk such a girly and sophisticated touch. I love it! When I bought it, I knew that I wanted to have it in a stand,so I searched around for one until I found the perfect one. I found the stand about a week after I had purchased the calendar at a different Marshall's store.

If you're really eyeing any of these items, I highly recommend checking out your local TJ Maxx, Marshall's or Homegoods stores ASAP because a lot of their stuff tends to go fast. Have a lovely day and I hope to see you on the next post!
