'Tis The Season to Wear Plaid

It’s December already and I can’t believe Christmas is right around the corner. This year went by so fast! Where did the time go? With all the holiday shopping, decorating, exciting events and holiday parties to plan for, it’s kind of hard to say that this will be a very relaxing month for me, and probably for many of you as well. Things get pretty hectic around the holidays, but let’s not forget to take some time out for ourselves and relax a little. It’s so important to stay calm during this time when people are in a constant rush and under so much pressure.  Let’s put a smile on our face and enjoy the moment.

Today I am sharing with you a holiday-inspired outfit that is perfect to wear to the office for an informal holiday party, or just a regular day at work.  I styled an outfit with one of this season’s classic prints, none other than plaid. I love to see all of the different plaid color combinations that you see around this time of year. Just looking at them gets me in the holiday spirit. I styled this outfit around this blue and red plaid shirt, and I intended to keep the colors pretty much the same throughout the rest of the outfit. It is a little matchy matchy considering I am trying to steer away from that sort of look, but I was pretty happy with the outcome. It’s simple, classy, and sophisticated. I added pearl earrings and a pearl statement necklace to add a touch of elegance to this look.

Thank you for stopping by blog. Soon I will be sharing some holiday DYI projects and a gift guide post for those near and dear to your heart. Stay tuned and I’ll see you on the next post!

Something Old, Something New

Hello sunshine! It was a gorgeous day here in New Jersey. I can’t believe it felt like spring on this late November day. This is a rarity around here. Every so often we have a warm day during the late fall or winter, or sometimes we will get snow in the spring, or a cold summer day. The weather around here can sometimes be so unpredictable.

Speaking of rare things, today I am showing you an outfit that is quite unique and a style that I don’t always wear, but I absolutely love.  This vintage set, which features a long skirt and a matching button- down shirt, was given to me by my dear Godmother a few years ago. Can I just say I have the coolest Godmother?! She is so fashion forward and has an amazing collection of vintage clothes. I am so lucky and blessed to have her as my Godmother. Not just because I get to inherit all of these great pieces, but because of the amazing, beautiful person that she is inside and out. I know I’m getting off topic here, but in this season of Thanksgiving, I think it's important to share what we are thankful for. She is one of those people that I am so thankful to have in my life along with many others (family and friends).

Okay back to the outfit. For a long time, I couldn't figure out when I wanted to wear this set or how I would style this outfit, so I let it sit in my closet and waited for the right moment to come. Well... I finally decided to bring this skirt and shirt set back to life a few weeks ago when we had another one of those rare warm autumn days. I didn't want the outfit to look outdated, so I paired it with newer pieces to give it a more modern feel. Instead of plainly wearing this 90's style shirt and long skirt, I thought it would be best to tuck the shirt inside the skirt. I added a belt to cinch the waist and create balance between the over-sized top and skirt. This shirt and skirt set was immediately transformed into a dress. I chose to not button the top up all the way and wore a tan shirt underneath. A pair of brown suede booties, some gold jewelry, and a brown and tan shoulder bag completes this fall look.

This outfit is chic and very ladylike. Here's a fun fact about me: When I was a little girl, I used to love looking through the Fingerhut magazines and imagining myself wearing clothes that looked very similar to what I'm wearing in this outfit post. I have been told that I have an old soul and I definitely agree. I realize that most people won’t be into this style of dressing since today's fashion is very much focused on showing off a woman's body, the idea that showing less is best, and giving off sex appeal. I personally think that a woman can look sexy in anything that she wears. You don't have to show a lot of skin or wear super tight clothes to show how sexy you are. The true beauty and sexiness comes from inside; how you carry yourself, and how confident you feel about what your are wearing.

I hope you enjoyed this outfit post, and maybe you too will be inspired to mix the old with the new. Have a lovely day, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones. See you on the next style post. Enjoy!

Florals in the Fall

The floral print is back! I thought it would be put away until the spring, but I can’t seem to get away from it. When I saw this perfect-for-Fall floral print top I just couldn't pass it up. The warm orange color of the blouse, its boxy shape, and tiny hints of interesting details such as the gold buttons on one shoulder, and the brown stripe that runs vertically down the back are some of the things that attracted me to this blouse. Another thing I love about it is that it has kind of a vintage look, which I always appreciate, and not to mention, the beautiful floral print. I paired up this lovely blouse with mustard yellow trousers, brown heels and gold accessories. These warm and neutral colors put together give this outfit a monochromatic and sophisticated look. This outfit is perfect to wear to the office on a beautiful Autumn day. Wouldn't you agree?

I hope you enjoyed this post and that you too are inspired to add some Fall florals to your wardrobe. As always, thanks for stopping by my blog. See you on the next style post!

"You know all those things you wanted to do? You should go do them." -Unknown

Happy Monday! Yes, it’s Monday again, but don’t let that get you down. It’s the beginning of a new week and an opportunity for a fresh start. If there’s anything you wish to change, today is the day.

Speaking of changes, I’ve been meaning to share with you a room décor post since the beginning of Interiors a la Vogue. November 1st will mark two years since my very first post. I am a little embarrassed to say that I postponed Interior Design/Décor related posts for this long. I had a couple of posts in the beginning where I styled an outfit inspired by a room design, which can be seen here, and here. I didn't post any of my own work for various reasons. For those of you who don’t know, I am an Interior Designer with a passion for fashion, delicious food and desserts, hence the name of my blog Interiors a la Vogue. When I started this blog, my goal was to incorporate different aspects of Interior Design, such as room makeovers, DIY projects, tips and ideas on how to improve a room in your home, food and dessert recipes, and of course what you’re accustomed to seeing, fashion finds and style posts. All this time I have wanted to post something Interior Design related, but I couldn't find the perfect project to share, or if I had a project, the quality of the photos were not good enough because the indoor lighting was either too harsh or too dull. Because Interior Design is very much focused on aesthetics, I was fearful of representing myself in a bad light. I feared that if I put my work out there that I would risk my work to be perceived as mediocre. Because I was so hard on myself, I failed to realize that I was setting myself back.  I have come to realize that each day I hold off on doing something; I lose an opportunity to express what I am truly passionate about. I lose an opportunity to learn something new, to grow, and to share with the world what I have to offer. I am happy to say that I am in a different place in my life and in a different state of mind. Waiting is no longer an option for me. Good quality photos, consistency, and great writing are important to maintaining a successful blog. However, I have realized that it’s not so much about portraying perfection. Instead it’s about enjoying the journey, learning new things, and continuing to grow as an artist, designer, writer, and photographer.  With that said, I introduce you to my first room décor post.

In this post, I am taking you on a mini tour of my bedroom. The overall look of my room represents my love for fashion. When you walk into my room it feels like you’re walking into a boutique. I have clothes, shoes, and accessories displayed throughout the room as if it really was a boutique. During the spring and summer, the style of my bedroom was more shabby chic and pretty girly. I wanted to do something a little different for the Fall, but still maintain this boutique look. I took out the pink roses and replaced them with sunflowers, changed the floral print duvet covers and shams and switched them for white bed sheets with colorful, furry, and sparkly accent pillows to give it a touch of glamour. For my summer and spring decor I had faux grass above my shoe display shelf. I took out the grass and added the sparkly vogue accent piece, which I created myself, and the glass head mannequin with a brown and gold floppy hat to dress it up for the fall. Last, but not least, I added the brown leopard print curtains to give the room more of a Fall look. By adding deeper color tones and different textures I was able to transform the room from Summer to Fall.

I hope this post has inspired you to step out of your comfort zone and to embrace change. Thank you for stopping by my blog. Feel free to ask me any questions in the comments section below. I look forward to sharing more interior design/decor posts. Stay tuned, and stay beautiful inside and out!

Feliz lunes!

Autumn Hues

Good day everyone! I am feeling sunny on this lovely day, so I thought it would be appropriate to share an outfit post that is perfect to wear on those sunny and warm Autumn days. Here on the east coast, the weather tends to be all over the place. Usually by the middle of October we begin to feel the temperature drop, but this year we have been lucky to have a few warm days in between the cool ones.

I styled an outfit inspired by the statement necklace that I am seen wearing in the photos. The colorful beading and sequins on this necklace are what caught my attention at first sight. This is no surprise though. When I see anything with intricate details I am immediately drawn to it, kind of like a magnet. After I placed it against this lovely yellow peplum top, I fell in love with the combination. I noticed that the necklace had some pink and blue beads on it, so I looked in my closet and found these harem pants in a peacock green color. When I combined these two beautiful Autumn hues; peacock green and mustard yellow, I thought they were a great match. Of course I had to add in a little bit of print and little bit more texture, so I wore my leopard print pumps, and a black quilted bag, which creates a nice contrast. This perfect-for-Fall look is great to wear to the office, a date night, or just a night out with friends.

I hope you enjoyed this Fall look. Stay tuned for more Fall looks, and, I also have a Fall room decor post that I will be sharing soon on the blog. Thank you for stopping by and I'll see you on the next style post!
