Something Different

On a gloomy autumn day all I want is to feel warm and comfortable. I have to admit that I have never been a big fan of the midi dress or skirt paired with long boots look. I love to wear skirts and dresses, but the cold weather tends to keep me away from wearing anything that shows skin. I am someone who is always cold, even when it's not that cold. Bundling up during this time of year is a definite must for me. On some of these photos I am not wearing my jacket, but I promise you I was cold.

I decided to give this long boots and midi dress look a chance. I paired up this loose fitted denim midi dress with long brown boots. I recently purchased these boots and I just can't get enough of them. My favorite part: the gold plated heels, how comfortable they are!...oh and did I mention they are on sale? These photos don't do them justice because they're pretty covered up. I look forward  to styling them in different ways throughout the next few weeks of Fall and Winter. I added a few layers on top by wearing a brown cardigan and faux leather jacket. I have to say I felt pretty comfortable, yet fashionable. It's not so bad trying something new after all. It's okay to be different, as long as it feels good and it feels like you.

Welcome Fall!

It's been a while...yes, it certainly has. I missed blogging. I missed you, my dear reader. We may or may not know each other personally, but knowing that you are there, silently supporting me and reading my blog posts means so much to me. I guess this is a perfect time to say...THANK YOU!

It’s so nice to be back. Sometimes life has a way of taking us to unexpected places and putting us in situations that are unforeseen and rather difficult. This summer was a very busy one for me. It was filled with challenging situations, one of which you may already be aware of, my temporary disability. In my last post back in June, I mentioned that I had gotten injured. I tore the meniscus and a ligament in my knee. Thankfully, I was able to recover nicely through a whole summer of physical therapy. Aside from my injury, I had a lot of exciting things that happened some of which include a trip to Mexico for my best friend's wedding, I visited my old home and friends in the San Francisco bay area, a work promotion, and prepping to move into a new apartment, and my son starting kindergarten. There were a lot of great changes in my life, but the obstacles I faced along the way were not easy I tell ya.  I am so glad that I was able to make it through. The challenges are not over. In life we fall, but it’s the amount of times that we are able to pick ourselves back up that really matter. If you’re going through a difficult situation, remember that it is only temporary. Learn from it, do whatever it takes to get through it, and you will see that there are better things ahead. Remember that “there is a season for everything, a time for every purpose under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3)

Speaking of seasons, let’s change the topic to this warm and cozy look that’s perfect for the chilly Fall weather. The suede or faux suede material has been very popular this season, so of course I had to jump on it because I love suede, and velvet, and fuzzy, cozy fabrics that keep me warm. This is a perfect time to add layers and mix textures and that’s exactly what I wanted to achieve with this outfit. I chose to pair my faux suede dress with an over sized cardigan, a mid-length coat, stockings, and my leopard print heels. This look is great to wear to brunch with girlfriends on a beautiful Autumn day.

Short & Sweet

I hate to start this post on such a sad note, but I think it's fair to fill you in on what's going on with me right now. I injured my knee while playing softball last week. I am somewhat confined to my bed and can only walk on crutches, hopefully for just one week, I am still waiting to get more tests done to see what my next step is with this injury. I hope that this is a speedy recovery, especially because I am scheduled to travel outside the country for my friend's wedding next week. In this style post, I am sharing with you a look that I wore right before my injury.

There are a few hot trends for Spring and Summer that I just can't get enough of. Tribal patterns, the bohemian look, mule sandals, crochet details, tassels and fringe are some of my favorite, just to name a few. As you can see, I am getting a good use out of these fun mule sandals that I wore in my last post. I absolutely love them! They looked great paired up with these cute shorts that have a beautiful tribal print design. To keep this look simple and clean I chose to wear it with a white button up shirt, but wait...this shirt is not your average white button up. Check out the lovely crochet detail around the shoulders and upper arms. I also wanted this outfit to be colorful and cheerful so I added a neon pink handbag, a few accessories to give this look a touch of glam and...VOILA! You have a super sweet Summer look.

This outfit is perfect to wear out to brunch with friends, especially if it's outdoors. It's clean, colorful, and oh so chic.

Tropical Escape

Summer is just around the corner. Raise your hand if you are in need of a vacation...(raises hand). I am so ready for a vacation! This outfit makes me feel like going away to a tropical paradise. I would love to sit by the beach and enjoy the cool breeze while watching the sunset and listening to the sound of the waves and birds...ahh...wouldn't it be nice? The gorgeous flowers in this skirt, the light and airy top with a beautiful crochet detail, the wild tiger print fedora, the crochet shoulder bag, and these super cute yellow/green mule sandals make for the perfect ensemble to wear to a fancy dinner by the beach. Don't forget some very cool mirrored sunnies to top off this look and of course protect your eyes from the sun.

I can't get over how fast the time is passing. We don't have control of the time, but we can definitely control how we want to use and spend our time. So let's make good use of our time and enjoy every moment. Out with the old and in with the new. Goodbye May and hello June! There are so many exciting events coming up for me this month. One of them is one of my best friend's wedding. I am ecstatic and so happy that my dear friend will be tying the know and guess what? This will be a destination wedding... wait for it... by the BEACH! Stay tuned because I have so much I want to share with you on the blog such as: my travel experience, some DIY projects I am currently working on for the bridal shower, photos from the wedding, and so much more!
