Something Different

On a gloomy autumn day all I want is to feel warm and comfortable. I have to admit that I have never been a big fan of the midi dress or skirt paired with long boots look. I love to wear skirts and dresses, but the cold weather tends to keep me away from wearing anything that shows skin. I am someone who is always cold, even when it's not that cold. Bundling up during this time of year is a definite must for me. On some of these photos I am not wearing my jacket, but I promise you I was cold.

I decided to give this long boots and midi dress look a chance. I paired up this loose fitted denim midi dress with long brown boots. I recently purchased these boots and I just can't get enough of them. My favorite part: the gold plated heels, how comfortable they are!...oh and did I mention they are on sale? These photos don't do them justice because they're pretty covered up. I look forward  to styling them in different ways throughout the next few weeks of Fall and Winter. I added a few layers on top by wearing a brown cardigan and faux leather jacket. I have to say I felt pretty comfortable, yet fashionable. It's not so bad trying something new after all. It's okay to be different, as long as it feels good and it feels like you.

Welcome Fall!

It's been a while...yes, it certainly has. I missed blogging. I missed you, my dear reader. We may or may not know each other personally, but knowing that you are there, silently supporting me and reading my blog posts means so much to me. I guess this is a perfect time to say...THANK YOU!

It’s so nice to be back. Sometimes life has a way of taking us to unexpected places and putting us in situations that are unforeseen and rather difficult. This summer was a very busy one for me. It was filled with challenging situations, one of which you may already be aware of, my temporary disability. In my last post back in June, I mentioned that I had gotten injured. I tore the meniscus and a ligament in my knee. Thankfully, I was able to recover nicely through a whole summer of physical therapy. Aside from my injury, I had a lot of exciting things that happened some of which include a trip to Mexico for my best friend's wedding, I visited my old home and friends in the San Francisco bay area, a work promotion, and prepping to move into a new apartment, and my son starting kindergarten. There were a lot of great changes in my life, but the obstacles I faced along the way were not easy I tell ya.  I am so glad that I was able to make it through. The challenges are not over. In life we fall, but it’s the amount of times that we are able to pick ourselves back up that really matter. If you’re going through a difficult situation, remember that it is only temporary. Learn from it, do whatever it takes to get through it, and you will see that there are better things ahead. Remember that “there is a season for everything, a time for every purpose under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3)

Speaking of seasons, let’s change the topic to this warm and cozy look that’s perfect for the chilly Fall weather. The suede or faux suede material has been very popular this season, so of course I had to jump on it because I love suede, and velvet, and fuzzy, cozy fabrics that keep me warm. This is a perfect time to add layers and mix textures and that’s exactly what I wanted to achieve with this outfit. I chose to pair my faux suede dress with an over sized cardigan, a mid-length coat, stockings, and my leopard print heels. This look is great to wear to brunch with girlfriends on a beautiful Autumn day.
