Bold, Bright, and Blue

I'm stepping into Spring with a bright color and a bold print. Leopard print is by far, my favorite animal print. I love most wild animal prints, especially the wild cats, but the leopard holds a special place in my heart. I prefer the more complex, structured, and visually pleasing design of the spots on the leopard. This popular print is so versatile. I think every woman should own something with leopard print or any wild animal of their choice. It gives your wardrobe so much character and shows that you are not afraid to step out of your comfort zone.

Speaking of comfort zones, I have met a lot of women who are afraid to experiment with bold and bright colors, especially in the work place. I can understand why some women are more reserved when it comes to wearing bright colors. For one, bright colors draw a lot of attention and, depending on the color you wear and how you wear it, you can easily give off a bad impression. I am one who can not live without color. I am not afraid to step out wearing the brightest top, or the brightest shoes. I just love to play with colors. However, there ways to wear bright colors without looking garish. If you want to add a little pizzazz to your wardrobe, the best way to start is by choosing colors that you like and complement your skin tone. Keep in mind that bright colors look great with neutral colors. If you're one of those women who is afraid to play with colors, try using it in smaller sections such as a belt, a bold lip color, a statement necklace, or even your handbag. A small pop of color will attract a little attention, but not so much to make you feel uncomfortable.

I styled this outfit with the fearless business woman in mind. I used both a bright color and my favorite animal print. Even though these pants have a busy pattern, the color of the pants is neutral and the style of the pants is a little loose, which gives it a more sophisticated look. I paired the pants with a cream ruffled top to help tone down the busy pattern of the print. The turquoise color blazer and shoes are the perfect pop of color for the overall neutral outfit. The pearl earrings and a classic black bag add a nice touch of class and sophistication to this look.

Welcome Spring!

Yes! Spring is here and I am so excited for this change in season. For most people, the new year is a time when they begin to reflect on the things they would like to change in their lives, a time to set goals, and start putting their New Years resolutions into action. Well, this approach has never really worked for me. As weird as it may sound, the start of my new year is now. When Spring comes around I get the excitement that people get when the clock strikes twelve during New Years Eve. I think part of it is because a) I was born in the Spring and b) this beautiful season brings so many positive changes such as: nice weather, flowers blooming, birds chirping, trees coming back to life, and even people's attitudes are a little more on the positive side. Spring has been referred to as a season of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth. With that said, Spring is my jump start to a new year, new opportunities, goals... it is when I become alive, it's my time to shine.

Hello beautiful reader! I'm so glad to be back and feeling pretty in this little white vintage style dress, despite the freezing cold weather. I am so not a fan of the cold. I love the way the snow looks when it starts to fall, but I can't stand the cold. I have a tendency to go into hibernation mode during the Winter. It's just not my favorite time of the year. 

In this outfit post I am wearing this beautiful retro style dress that I recently purchased from an online store called SheInside. I have to say that the quality and details of this dress are pretty impressive. When I first saw the dress I was immediately drawn to its intricate details. The pastoral scenery painted on the bottom is a clever idea in my opinion. Who knew that horses could be riding in such style? Aside from the beautiful scenery, it also features a subtle damask pattern throughout the dress, as well as a gorgeous metal beading around the neckline. 

I wanted to keep this vintage look simple and sweet. I paired this dress with some bronze/brown suede booties and a distressed bronze colored shoulder bag that features a nice chain to hang around the shoulders. The metal headband adds an extra bit of detail, but not so much as to overwhelm the outfit. Heart shaped pearl earrings and a pearl ring topped off this very chic and classy look.

This was my first online clothes purchase. I am usually apprehensive about purchasing anything online for so many reasons. When it comes to clothes, I like to be able to touch the material and try the clothes on to see if I like it, but after reading and seeing YouTube videos of bloggers I follow who recommended this online store, I decided to give it a chance. I am so glad I did! SheInside has a lot unique pieces and they're also very affordable. I definitely recommend checking them out.

Holiday Outfit Remix

Happy holidays my dear readers! I hope you are all well rested and recovering from all the holiday activities. I'm a little drained, but I'm still going. In this post I will talk about three different holiday celebrations I attended on December 2013. This post will be separated into three sections, showing you photos of what I wore to the events, some outfit details, and I will also share with you some of the things I enjoyed about each event. So let's get started!

Blogger's Holiday Soiree

On December 19th I had the opportunity to attend a Blogger's Holiday Soiree in Hoboken, NJ. This event was hosted by Lillie Morales of Jersey Fashionista. During this event I was able to meet and network with other fashion bloggers in the NY/NJ area. The guest speakers shared their stories of how they started blogging, their experiences, and they also shared blogging tips and offered positive advice to keep us motivated. Some of the guest speakers and bloggers at this event were some well-known bloggers such as Dana Prigge, Naty Michele, Alicia Gibbs, Erika Batista, Jennifer Daure, Kristen Mangione, Melissa Flores, Pashuntrisha, Nadia, Cherina, Julissa, Lee Valenzuela and many more. If you can't get enough beauty tips, fashion outfit ideas, and where to find great deals on your favorite brands, I recommend that you check out their blogs and You Tube videos and be sure to follow these lovely fashionistas.

I wore a red, green, and yellow plaid dress from the Princess Vera collection at Kohl's. I bought it about a year ago a little after Christmas. When I saw it I knew I had to get it. Not only because it was on sale, but I loved the style of this dress. It's comfortable, form fitting and I love the gold sequin detail on the collar. It was pretty chilly out so I didn't want to wear the dress without adding a top underneath or on top. I chose to wear it with a black mesh bodysuit underneath as opposed to a cardigan or blazer because I didn't want to hide the dress. I got a lot of compliments on the dress and the shoes that night. The shoes were a recent purchase from love culture. I love the gold detail and they're also pretty comfortable and very affordable!

Noche Buena Family Party   

Most Latin countries celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve also known as Noche Buena. Being a Dominican native, the people in our country typically begin their Noche Buena by having a big dinner with their family. After the dinner, we dance and celebrate all night. At midnight, we stop to remember why we celebrate Christmas; the world was gifted with the newborn baby Jesus and in honor of this beautiful gift we celebrate his birthday and exchange gifts with family members. Throughout the night, you see children laughing and playing with their toys that they received, the adults engage in conversations, crack jokes, take photos, and dance the night away. The party doesn't stop until we drop. It's no secret that we Dominicans like to celebrate. 

Below are some photos of my Noche Buena family party and a mini photo shoot I did showing you my outfit of the night. I wore a little black sequin dress, which I though was elegant, sexy, yet classy. To continue this elegant look, I wore it with my vintage black pumps. I wanted to look sexy without showing too much skin so I wore my black mesh bodysuit underneath the dress and black fishnet stockings. The bun on the side and red lips complete this look and add a dash of sass.

Holiday Dinner with a Dear Friend

On Christmas day I usually stay at home, watch movies and relax. This year I did something different. I had the pleasure of enjoying a nice meal with one of my dear friends Melissa and her family. The food was so good! I have to give a thumbs up to Melissa's BBQ chicken and her sister Makeba's candied yams. I will need to get that recipe because it sure was delicious.

I wasn't sure what I wanted to wear that night, but I definitely knew I wanted to wear something sparkly. I love all things sparkly, sequins, glitter, gold, if it  shines it's mine. Being that during this time of year it is appropriate to wear things that sparkle, I pulled out my navy blue blazer with sequins in the arms. I wore it with black leggings, the black mesh bodysuit, and black suede boots. To complete the look I add a little pop of color to the outfit with my bright red lipstick.

School Girl

Where do I start? Well, I guess I can start by saying… heeelllooo to all of you beautiful followers! I feel so bad that I have neglected my blog for a few months. I hate taking these long breaks and hope that this doesn’t happen again. I’m ready to get back to business and start sharing style tips and outfit ideas with you and sooo much more!  

I know that classes start at the end of August or beginning of September, which is when I wanted to share this outfit post, but just couldn’t find the time to do so. I styled an outfit inspired by the popular school girl look, which I think is very chic and fabulous. This is not your typical school girl look with the short plaid, pleated skirt and the knee high stockings. I wanted to do something a little different. I found this lovely skirt at forever 21 about two months ago. I wasn’t sure what I was going to wear it with, but after looking in my closet, I found a white, button down shirt with black buttons and black bow and thought it was the perfect match for the skirt. I also had these black and white spectator style shoes from Charlotte Russe that I purchased a while ago. After putting all the pieces together my school girl look was pretty much complete.

Since we are on this topic of school, I also want to recommend the book I am posing with in some of the photos below. It's called Real Solutions for Busy Moms by Kathy Ireland. I just started reading the book and so far I find it helpful. It's a great read for all you busy mothers out there. I know a few blogger moms and just young mothers who have full-time jobs, who work hard not just at work, but also try to maintain a strong family bond, some even go to school, etc.  Whatever the case may be, if you are a mother, you can all understand how difficult it is to keep up and take a little time to do what we enjoy (hence my lack of blog posts). I hate to make excuses, but it's reality. I want to talk more about the book, but I think I'll save the review for when I finally finish reading it.

Back to the outfit. I want to know what you think about this look. Would you wear this outfit? Do you think it’s too youthful? I want to hear your thoughts and opinions. 

I want to point out that today is my bloggerversary. Exactly one year ago, I published my first style blog post. I can't believe it's been a year already! I have a lot of work ahead of me for this next year. I have so much that I want to accomplish with my blog.
