Happy Sunday beautiful! I know I am a little late with this post, but better late than never. I got pretty sick two days after my birthday. I'm still trying to get over a terrible cold, but I had to find some energy to share with you what I wore on my birthday.

Every year for my birthday I make it a point to wear something special. I strive to make every birthday fun and memorable and of course I can't forget to do it in style. This year my birthday was on a Monday, the most exciting day of the week! Okay maybe not... but I didn't let that stop me from getting all dressed up and feeling excited. Since I had to work on my birthday, I had to put together an outfit that represented my free-spirit, friendly, classy, and girly personality, but I had to keep in mind that this outfit needed to be appropriate for the office. I styled the outfit around this lovely blouse that I recently purchased from Forever 21. I fell in love with the loose-fitting, bohemian style of the blouse, which makes it very comfortable for work. The floral print gives it a subtle feminine look without it being too girly. I paired it up with white pants that have a tan tribal design sewn on the sides. Ballerina flats and a classy tan satchel were the perfect addition to bring out some of the tan on the blouse and the detail on the pants. I didn't think the look was complete without a statement necklace. This beautiful necklace gives this sweet and simple look a touch of glamour, it brings out the peach color on the blouse, and the teal stones add an extra bit of color and create a beautiful harmony.

Color Me Happy

Color me happy because May has finally arrived! You might be wondering about why I am so excited about the month of May. Below are three reasons why I love this month so much:

Reason one: Like the saying goes "April showers bring May flowers," I am a lover of nature and the beautiful flowers that begin to blossom during this month. In some parts of the world, there are flowers all year around, but here in New Jersey, we have to wait until May to see them in full bloom and we only get to enjoy them for a few months. I feel like my natural environment and I are truly in sync. When the trees and flowers are alive, I feel alive. This is one of those months that makes me feel rejuvenated and like I am coming back to life.

Reason two: We celebrate Mother's Day in May. Mother's Day is every day, but it's nice to have a special day dedicated to them. Being a mother is the most challenging, yet most rewarding opportunities we have in life. I am so thankful and blessed to have grown up around so many strong and amazing mothers, including own. I also thankful for the privilege and opportunity of being a mother and experiencing something truly special.

Reason three: It's my birthday! I was born on May 12. I love celebrating birthdays. Not just my birthday, but other people's birthdays as well. I grew up in a house where we celebrated a birthday party or other parties at least once or twice a month. My favorite part was planning and decorating. Lucky for me, I had a mother who trusted my design instincts even as young child. I was always very much involved in any celebratory event.

To celebrate the start of this beautiful month, I styled a colorful outfit that is sure to brighten your day. This outfit was styled around the floral head scarf I am wearing in the photos. I picked out two colors from the head scarf, which are seen in the bright-colored flamingo pink sweater, and the pastel yellow heels. This look is comfortable and will have you looking stylish while running errands or maybe shopping with friends.

DIY: Pink Peonies Wreath

I am so excited to share with you my very first DYI project on the blog. When I started this blog, my purpose was to share with you my idea of tasteful living through fashion, food, and Interior Design. I really have been taking my time trying to figure out what it is that I want this blog to represent. I finally feel like I have figured it out and I'm currently working on making this blog a cozy little place where readers can come for some inspiration. One of the things I have always wanted to incorporate into my blog were DYI projects. I consider myself the queen of DIY's...(just kidding!), but I really do enjoy working on projects and coming up with creative ideas for home décor, fashion accessories, and many more. I have a lot of great ideas for projects and what better way to share them with you than right here on Interiors a la Vogue. 

With this wonderful season called Spring comes the beautiful colors of the blossoming flowers we see all around us. If you're a flower lover like me, then you probably love to incorporate them into your living space. I don't know about you, but when the season changes and I'm ready to change the wreath on my door, I always have trouble finding the perfect wreath for a really great price. I find that wreaths tend to be overpriced or just not what I'm looking for at the time. I like adding my own touch to pretty much everything, so I find it easier to just make my own. This Spring, I decided to create a very simple and easy-to-make wreath for just $10! You can't beat that! I personally love adding fresh flowers in my home, but for this wreath I chose artificial flowers because we all know that real flowers don't last a very long time. Although the flowers are artificial, I still wanted to add a natural element, so I purchased the dried tree branches already shaped in a circular form. Below are some photos showing you the step-by-step process on how to create this wreath.

   

    This pre-made wreath of dried up tree branches can be purchased at Wal-Mart for about $4.00.  

    For this project, I purchased five Peony bunches for $1 each at the dollar store.You are welcome to  purchase any color or type of flowers you like. I tried to make this as budget-friendly as possible, so I chose to use flowers from the dollar store. The quality of the flowers you select is very important! I will warn you that some of the flowers from the dollar store tend to look cheap and fake. I recommend choosing ones that look as natural and beautiful as the Peonies I selected. If you prefer to go with a better quality of flowers and you don't mind spending a few extra dollars, I recommend purchasing your flowers from Michael's craft store or Jo-Ann.

    The next step is to cut up your flowers with wire cutters or scissors. Make sure to leave a long enough stem so you can wrap the flowers around the wreath. 

     

    Now you can begin carefully wrapping your flowers around the tree branches.

    You are all done! This project takes about 20 minutes to complete. Feel free to display your flower wreath anywhere in your home, because who says wreaths are only supposed to be hung on doors? Trust me, the interior decorating police won't come looking for you for breaking this rule. This flower wreath is a great way to add some color and life to your home. You can display your flower wreath on top of a bookshelf, a console table, on a wall in your home, your front door or anywhere your heart desires.

Light & Simple

Hello Beauties! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter for those who celebrate it. I definitely enjoyed my time with my family. Today I am sharing with you what I wore on Easter day. I usually like to wear bright colors for Easter, but this year I decided to go with a neutral color and a touch of a pastel color. Pastel colors are trending this season and one of my favorite is this pretty pastel blue. I wanted to feel comfortable for the occasion, but still look pretty. I decided to wear this simple and loose cream dress. My favorite thing about this dress is the beautiful embroidered Aztec detail on the bottom ruffles. I paired it up with this gorgeous necklace, which also has an Aztec feel to it, a pair of dangling blue earrings and blue ankle strap heels. The weather was nice that day, but it still felt a little chilly, so I topped it off with my leopard print jacket.

Bold, Bright, and Blue

I'm stepping into Spring with a bright color and a bold print. Leopard print is by far, my favorite animal print. I love most wild animal prints, especially the wild cats, but the leopard holds a special place in my heart. I prefer the more complex, structured, and visually pleasing design of the spots on the leopard. This popular print is so versatile. I think every woman should own something with leopard print or any wild animal of their choice. It gives your wardrobe so much character and shows that you are not afraid to step out of your comfort zone.

Speaking of comfort zones, I have met a lot of women who are afraid to experiment with bold and bright colors, especially in the work place. I can understand why some women are more reserved when it comes to wearing bright colors. For one, bright colors draw a lot of attention and, depending on the color you wear and how you wear it, you can easily give off a bad impression. I am one who can not live without color. I am not afraid to step out wearing the brightest top, or the brightest shoes. I just love to play with colors. However, there ways to wear bright colors without looking garish. If you want to add a little pizzazz to your wardrobe, the best way to start is by choosing colors that you like and complement your skin tone. Keep in mind that bright colors look great with neutral colors. If you're one of those women who is afraid to play with colors, try using it in smaller sections such as a belt, a bold lip color, a statement necklace, or even your handbag. A small pop of color will attract a little attention, but not so much to make you feel uncomfortable.

I styled this outfit with the fearless business woman in mind. I used both a bright color and my favorite animal print. Even though these pants have a busy pattern, the color of the pants is neutral and the style of the pants is a little loose, which gives it a more sophisticated look. I paired the pants with a cream ruffled top to help tone down the busy pattern of the print. The turquoise color blazer and shoes are the perfect pop of color for the overall neutral outfit. The pearl earrings and a classic black bag add a nice touch of class and sophistication to this look.

Welcome Spring!

Yes! Spring is here and I am so excited for this change in season. For most people, the new year is a time when they begin to reflect on the things they would like to change in their lives, a time to set goals, and start putting their New Years resolutions into action. Well, this approach has never really worked for me. As weird as it may sound, the start of my new year is now. When Spring comes around I get the excitement that people get when the clock strikes twelve during New Years Eve. I think part of it is because a) I was born in the Spring and b) this beautiful season brings so many positive changes such as: nice weather, flowers blooming, birds chirping, trees coming back to life, and even people's attitudes are a little more on the positive side. Spring has been referred to as a season of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth. With that said, Spring is my jump start to a new year, new opportunities, goals... it is when I become alive, it's my time to shine.

This Spring I will be bringing you some great outfit ideas showing off the beautiful colors of the season. Stay tuned, and stay beautiful inside and out.

Vintage Glam

Hello beautiful reader! I'm so glad to be back and feeling pretty in this little white vintage style dress, despite the freezing cold weather. I am so not a fan of the cold. I love the way the snow looks when it starts to fall, but I can't stand the cold. I have a tendency to go into hibernation mode during the Winter. It's just not my favorite time of the year. 

In this outfit post I am wearing this beautiful retro style dress that I recently purchased from an online store called SheInside. I have to say that the quality and details of this dress are pretty impressive. When I first saw the dress I was immediately drawn to its intricate details. The pastoral scenery painted on the bottom is a clever idea in my opinion. Who knew that horses could be riding in such style? Aside from the beautiful scenery, it also features a subtle damask pattern throughout the dress, as well as a gorgeous metal beading around the neckline. 

I wanted to keep this vintage look simple and sweet. I paired this dress with some bronze/brown suede booties and a distressed bronze colored shoulder bag that features a nice chain to hang around the shoulders. The metal headband adds an extra bit of detail, but not so much as to overwhelm the outfit. Heart shaped pearl earrings and a pearl ring topped off this very chic and classy look.

This was my first online clothes purchase. I am usually apprehensive about purchasing anything online for so many reasons. When it comes to clothes, I like to be able to touch the material and try the clothes on to see if I like it, but after reading and seeing YouTube videos of bloggers I follow who recommended this online store, I decided to give it a chance. I am so glad I did! SheInside has a lot unique pieces and they're also very affordable. I definitely recommend checking them out. 

My batteries are fully charged and I have a lot I want to share with you as we approach my favorite seasons of the year; Spring and Summer. I hope you guys enjoyed this outfit post. Be sure to stay tuned for more outfit posts and a lot more coming soon to the blog.
