Poshmark Party in NYC: Work Week Chic

This week has been quite a busy one for me. Needless to say, thank God it’s Friday! I am excited to share this post with you because on Wednesday evening, I had the opportunity and pleasure of attending my first ever real Poshmark party. I say real because Poshmark has three virtual parties per day where you share items from your closet as well as other Posher’s closets. For those of you who don’t know, Poshmark is a marketplace created for women to shop and sell items from their closets with each other. Do you have clothes that have been sitting in your closet with tags? You know that dress that you wore only one time, but will never wear again? How about that blouse or skirt that doesn’t fit you or your style anymore? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Poshmark is the place for you. You can sell your unwanted clothes to other Poshers and/or shop your favorite Posher’s closet. It’s an online community filled with women who love to share their style, inspire, and motivate each other. I have been an active member since the start of this year and I have to say that my experience has been phenomenal. I have met some very nice women from all around the country. It's a great community to shop, share, and nake extra cash at the same time.

The Party...

Now let’s talk about the Poshmark party! I attended this event with my youngest sister Magda, aka my photographer. The event was held at Toshi’s Penthouse at the Flatiron Hotel in New York City.  It was such a fun and memorable experience. I also got the opportunity to meet the owner and creator of Poshmark Manish Chandra, fellow poshers, and a very special person who is near and dear to my heart, and she didn’t even know it until we met that night. Her name is Kathleen Murillo. She is a San Francisco Bay Area based style blogger, the editor of InspiraFashionwho also happens to work for Poshmark. She started her style blog a few years ago, before I did... the first style blogger I ever followed. Her sweet and down-to-earth attitude, her unique sense of style, her ambition, and what she was doing with her blogging career inspired me to want start my own blog. I had been thinking about starting a blog for a while, but it wasn't until I started reading and following her blog that I made the decision to do so. I didn't want to start a blog and imitate what she did, instead I used her blog as a source of inspiration to help me find my niche in the blogging community. I wanted to share my own ideas, my personal style, as well as inspire my readers. I am so happy to see how far her blogging career has taken her.Watching her blog grow was truly inspiring and motivating. Meeting her at the Poshmark party was such an incredible opportunity and pleasant surprise. She is as sweet, and down-to-earth in person as she portrays herself on her blog.

As far as my blog, it has been a challenging and exciting two and half years for me. My blog is nowhere near where I want it to be, but I am not in a rush. I am taking my time with this online space that I call Interiors a la Vogue. I am carefully planning what it is that I want to achieve with my blog and am so excited for what the future has in store for me and my career opportunities, for Interiors a la Vogue, for Kathleen, her blog, and even Poshmark.

Outfit of the Night...

The party’s theme was Work Week Chic. For this event I chose to wear a royal blue business style dress, matching blue pumps, and a white blazer. I paired this dress with a colorful, jeweled statement necklace and a neon pink shoulder bag. I wanted this look to be sophisticated, sleek, and colorful. My favorite part of this look is the statement necklace. I love that it has a wide array of colors, which gives this work week look a nice pop of color and a touch of chic.

High Contrast

Happy Monday my beautiful readers! Yes, it is Monday and it’s raining…A LOT here in New Jersey.  I don’t know about you, but I love rainy days. Not as much as I love sunny days, but I still appreciate the rain. They say “April showers bring May flowers” and who doesn’t love beautiful blooms in vibrant colors?

Speaking of vibrant colors, on this style post I am sharing with you an outfit that is sure to catch your attention.  I was really inspired by this wild and colorful leopard print button up shirt, so I decided to base the whole outfit around it. I fell in love with its contrasting colors and of course the leopard print. I thought it would be a good idea to play around with different hues to create this fun look in high contrast. I paired this top with skinny pants in a light aquamarine color. I matched these pretty aqua earrings with my pants, and royal blue pumps to match the royal blue on the shirt. The orange mirrored sunnies and the gold belt complete this super fun look. Notice how I didn't try to be too matchy matchy with the colors. I did that on purpose because I wanted this outfit to be playful and eye-catching.  This outfit is for that girl who doesn't mind standing out from the crowd. On a beautiful sunny day it’s perfectly fine to let you your hair down, be wild and a little loud.

Something Light, Something Bright

It's no secret that I am in love with colors; neon, pastels, dark, light... you name it, I love them all. Whenever people ask me what my favorite color is my answer is "I love all colors." Yes there are some colors that we tend to be drawn to more than others, but I personally find them all intriguing, inspiring, and motivating. Colors can provoke a certain memory or feeling. They not only have a way of catching someone's eyes, but also their mind and heart.

Lately I've been into neon, pastel, and neutral colors. They are all on different sides of the spectrum, just the way I like it. What can I say, I like variety. In this style post I styled a neon peach chiffon blouse with none other than distressed boyfriend jeans (another one of my latest obsessions). Boyfriend jeans have been on trend for quite a while now. I am pretty late on wearing this trend because for a long time I couldn't find the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans. I always found them to be too big and I refused to pay for jeans that were already ripped. I had a hard time accepting them. I thought they looked weird on me, but thought they looked great on other people. It wasn't until recently that I found a pair that fit me so perfectly (not this pair) and then the obsession began. Once I found the right pair, I kept finding more and more in all different shades and distressed in different areas. I own a few of them at this point. This pair of white washed distressed boyfriend jeans are the only ones I own with the biggest rips. I still can't seem to accept the ones with the really big holes on them. I gave these a chance because they were $20, plus there was an additional 50% off discount. I couldn't pass them up. Ten dollar jeans? You can't beat that! I thought that the light color of these jeans and the masculine style looked great paired up with this bright and feminine top. I wore this outfit with leopard print pumps, a taupe handbag, and a fun statement necklace. The earth tone colors of the shoes and handbag help to soften this look a little. The multicolored statement necklace brings out the darker color of the jeans and looks beautiful paired with the blouse.

I hope you enjoyed this style post and that you are inspired to experiment with different looks, colors, and styles. Sometimes it takes a while for us to step outside of our comfort zone, but once we do, it's a great feeling. That goes for anything in life. Embrace change and don't be afraid to try something new.

Timeless Style

Hi and welcome back! Today I am sharing with you an outfit that is sophisticated and very chic; an elegant look for the classy lady with a timeless fashion style. This look makes me travel back in time, specifically to the early 90s. Perhaps because when I was a young girl, I remember flipping through magazines and catalogs looking at all the stylish outfits that women wore. A lot of times I would daydream and imagine myself being a woman and wearing some of these outfits. This look in particular is a good example of one of those outfits that I found myself so attracted to. I have deep love for clothes that are classy, elegant, with a touch of vintage, and a modern flair. We now live in a generation where less is more and tight is right. Women want to show off their figures and they want to feel sexy. It’s the popular thing and a lot of people are doing it. I understand wanting to look and feel sexy, but as I’ve gotten older, I have come to realize that our sexiness does not come so much from the clothes we wear, it comes from the way we express ourselves, our attitude and outlook on life. There is nothing sexier than a woman who exudes confidence, with poise, is creative, and has a unique and timeless sense of style. I have learned that we shouldn’t worry about copying the rest; it is about creating a unique look that represents you. You can call me old fashioned, I’ve heard that before. Quite frankly, I don’t mind. It is what I stand for and believe in. It’s what makes me who I am.

To create this retro-inspired look, I wore a pair of palazzo pants with a chiffon button down blouse to match the polka-dots on the pants. I paired it with a navy blue trench coat, cream colored, pointed ankle boots, and a taupe handbag. I wanted to keep this look pretty simple and neutral for the most part, but of course I had to add in a pop of color. A peach color nail polish and a peach lipstick completed this classy and sophisticated look. This outfit is perfect to wear to the office, a business meeting, or to Sunday service.
